JUnit: GDI
E2E_SUITE=java with E2E_TESTS_INTEGRATION=GDI runs
no.elixir.e2eTests.GDIIntegrationTest, which targets nothing and proves nothing: run it
only to see the false green for yourself.
-
Start with the GDI class
Terminal window E2E_SUITE=java E2E_TESTS_INTEGRATION=GDI ./dev.sh start -
Do not read the result as a pass
It reports seven passing tests every time, whatever the stack does.
what does it test?
Nothing. Seven @Order-ed methods with empty bodies, plus an empty @BeforeAll and
@AfterAll. It connects to nothing and asserts nothing.
why is a green run worse than a failure?
Because it is a false green. This is the one place where the retiring runner is not merely
equivalent-but-older: e2e-gdi exits non-zero precisely so it cannot be read
as a pass, while this class passes on every run.
does either runner cover GDI?
No. Neither runner has GDI coverage; only one of them says so. The Go placeholder prints
the GDI pipeline is not implemented to stderr and exits 1.
why is there more than one selector?
E2E_SUITE picks the runner: go or java. E2E_TESTS_INTEGRATION picks the JUnit test
class; the Go runner uses its own E2E_ENV instead and ignores E2E_TESTS_INTEGRATION.
Choosing the environment is choosing the program (a test class here, a binary for Go), and
the entrypoint refuses an unknown value with a non-zero exit rather than falling back to a
default.
